It's the third Wednesday of the new year. Hope your 2020 is treating you well!
So, we’ve been chatting about mindset and goals a lot this month.
Pretty common theme for the first month of the new decade, right? You’ve seen people sharing photos comparing themselves from beginning to end of the decade on social media. Maybe you’ve seen people list out all the big things they’ve accomplished in the past 10 years or share what they’ve been grateful for.
Are you proud of your previous decade?
If so, awesome! We’re proud of you too! Now, it’s on to the next one. This 2020 almost feels like a blank slate to start something new. Maybe you feel a desire to accomplish something bigger than the last decade. Like we’ve said before, the idea of setting new goals and resolutions is exciting, but it’s not always rainbows and butterflies along the way.
Let’s just say your goal was to lose 20lbs.
20 pounds in 2020s. Kind of has a ring to it, right? Okay then, so how do you start? Probably by adjusting your diet and adding in some exercise. Eating healthier and working out semi-regularly may not be your idea of fun. Sometimes, you’ve had a long day and just want to lay down and eat a giant cheeseburger while binge-watching your favorite new Netflix series because it feels good (speaking from personal experience over here). That’s fine! We all deserve a cheat day here and there.
So, how can we shift our mindset so working towards our goals feels good?
If your goal was to lose 20 lbs, think about why you wish to lose weight. Maybe you want to feel more confident or get healthier. Confidence is a great feeling! Well, if you think about it, not only is your end goal to lose 20, it’s also to feel more confident. When you focus on your feelings along the way, you stay motivated and engaged to keep going and working towards your objective.
