How To Get More Out Of Team Brainstorms

Imagine you’re in a brainstorm with your team to come up with a way to solve a problem. Have you ever felt shy or nervous to share your idea?  Have you ever came forward with an idea only for it to get shut down before you can even finish your thought? Not the most enjoyable experience, right?

We’ve all been there.

The truth is, this kind of behavior (shutting down ideas too early, feeling too shy to speak up) hinders your team’s ability to be creative and innovative. When judgment is passed on too early in the creative process, you’re not going to get the most out of your brainstorm.

It’s all about structure.

The key to being more creative as a team and coming up with innovative ideas really comes down to how you structure your brainstorm. Like Linus Pauling says, “You can’t have good ideas unless you have lots of ideas.”

So, what’s the best way to structure a brainstorm?
